SAMUEL "EDDIE" CROMWELL
“Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.” (Psalms 149:1)
“Indeed it came to pass when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord and when they lifted up their voices with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music and praised the Lord saying, ‘For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.” (II Chronicles 5:13-14)
The Music Ministry of the First Church of Seventh-day Adventist offers blended worship in its purist form. From contemporary to sacred classics, the music ministry melds both music and congregation in corporate worship to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Our mission is threefold:
1. To praise the Lord. “Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.” (Psalms 149:1)
2. To edify each other in “...teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)
3. To reach the lost, that our ministry is “…as unto a light that shineth in a dark place.”(2 Peter 1:19)
The music ministry strives for the best combination of music and message in worship and in concert. We believe that music is a vitally important piece in the journey of faith. Music deepens our experiences in worship, making celebration, meditation, prayer, and mourning even more meaningful. Through the beauty and power of music, we are able to connect with our Lord and Savior in a very personal and heartfelt manner.
The music ministry of the First Church strives to glorify God through music in all gatherings and presentations. The mission of the department supports the mission of the entire First Church community: we strive to embody the gospel of Jesus Christ by reaching out to each other and the community; nurturing one another in the life of the church and sending one another out in service to all persons.
The music program offers an opportunity for education, spiritual growth, fellowship, participation in ministry, stewardship of gifts and talents and outreach. All choirs are voluntary and everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of experience. All participants strive for excellence, dignity, reverence, and integrity in all musical endeavors.
